By reading this blog, we hope our readers can see the evolution of the status of women in society over periods of time, from the Neolithic Era to the 20th century. The role women play in family, political, religious, and economic life have greatly impacted how society sees them. In Neolithic times, when women worked just as much as men in hunter-gatherer societies, they were seen as more equal compared to in the 16th century, when most women just stayed at home and took care of the family.
We will also describe how their status prevented them from participating in certain aspects of society, such as politics and owning land and property. We will discuss what types of laws were made that affected women over time and certain movements that called for gender equality. For example, around the 16th century, laws were made to prevent women from participating in politics and later, in the 20th century, laws were made giving women more rights in society.
We hope to show how the status of women differed in different regions of the world and how religion also played a great role in mapping out women's role in the community.
In this blog, it will be illustrated how the status of women has changed from Pre-Historic time to modern times, and the factors that have impacted this great evolution.
